Free EndNote workshop Thursday 1 September

EndNote is a bibliographic software package that enables you to:

• Import references from databases, journals and text files
• Import PDF files (in EndNote X4)
• Search databases from within EndNote
• Search your own references
• Insert citations into your documents
• Generate a bibliography in over 4500 styles
• Insert figures or tables into your document

Library staff will be running a free, hands-on EndNote workshop on Thursday 1 September 2011 14.00 – 16.30. The workshop will take place in Training room 1, Central Library, South Kensington campus.

Please note: EndNote can only be used by people with their own PC, it is not web-based in the way that RefWorks is. Please bear this in mind when booking a place.

Alumni Library services

For those of you who are leaving College soon, you may be interested to know that you can still use the library as alumni. You can visit the library at any time for reference only, but if you register with the Alumni office as an Interactive Alumni (which is free) you can borrow books as well.

Once your College username expires you won’t be able to access our online resources anymore. However, if you visit the library you can apply for a temporary 24 hour login which gives you access to some of our online material from our PCs. Please note that due to license restrictions the research you’re conducting must be for non-commercial purposes.

You can now also get a free alumni account with RefWorks. It’s a good idea to backup your RefWorks library now as you can always transfer your references to a new RefWorks account, or other reference management software at a later time. Backing up is easy to do – check the Refworks help pages for more information. If you’d like to set up an alumni account please contact Heather and she can send you the instructions and passwords you need.

Spring Term Reference Management training

There are a number of EndNote and Reference Manager training sessions available this year.

Reference Management software allows you to manage the references you need for your assignments and add citations and reference lists into your work.
